AI-Enabled EH&S Management Software
November 4, 2024
It’s exciting to see how AI is making its way into the construction industry, especially in the realm of environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) management. At TES, we’ve been keeping a close eye on this shift, and we couldn’t agree more with the recent article, “Is AI-Enabled EH&S Management the Future of Worker Safety in Construction?(full article below)” It really highlights how these new tools are changing the game for EH&S managers.
Personally, we’ve experienced the shift ourselves. EH&S is no longer just about reacting to incidents or meeting compliance; it’s about getting ahead of risks with data-driven decisions. We’ve invested in tech like the VISICS camera system and the myIH data field collection software, and the results have been eye-opening. AI and innovative technology have added a new layer of efficiency and safety.
As Gary Ng mentions in his article, AI-powered video analytics can monitor construction activities 24/7, spotting risky behaviors or non-compliance in real time. That gives EHS managers the chance to step in before something goes wrong. On top of that, AI chatbots can offer quick safety tips and training to workers right when they need it, creating a safety-first culture where everyone is more mindful of their actions.
But the benefits don’t stop there. AI also takes on a lot of the routine, repetitive tasks that usually fall on EHS teams. This means managers can spend less time on paperwork and more time focusing on bigger-picture safety strategies. Tools like predictive analytics can help spot risks before they escalate, and computer vision can automate compliance checks, saving time and resources.
We see AI-enabled EHS management as the future—not just for construction, but for the entire EH&S sector. Embracing these technologies means better protection for workers, smoother operations, and ongoing improvements in safety.
